The Thanksgiving holidays got off to a running start for the students and staff at Breckenridge’s South Elementary when the school held its annual Turkey Trot race in the neighborhood around the school on Thursday, Nov. 16.
With teachers and staff taking orders and delivering food, South Elementary raised more than $2,500 for the school’s PTO during McTeacher Night.
Food purchased at McDonald’s between 6-8 Oct. 24 will help support South Elementary’s PTO.
Local Rotarians visited South Elementary earlier this week to distribute copies of “A Student’s Dictionary” to Breckenridge third graders.
Patricia Gonzalez will be the new principal of Breckenridge’s South Elementary.
The students were treated to some fun time at Buckaroo Stadium.
The fundraiser will benefit South and East elementary schools.

Turkey Trot kicked off the Thanksgiving holiday for the students and school personnel. Classes will resume on Nov. 28.
