Early Voting in the City of Breckenridge’s election continues Monday and Tuesday, April 29 and 30, at City Hall, 105 N. Rose Ave.

The City of Breckenridge will host a welcome reception and meet-and-greet for new Police Chief Blake Johnson, who started the new job on Monday, April 22.

The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming City of Breckenridge election is Thursday, April 4. The ballot will include the Breckenridge Mayor and the contested races for City Commission Places 1 and 2.

The City of Breckenridge could have a new police chief soon after the City Commission voted at a special meeting this evening, Tuesday, March 26, to authorize City Manager Cynthia Northrop to negotiate the hiring of Blake Johnson for the position.

The City of Breckenridge is researching the possibility of combining local law enforcement services with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, but County officials and at least one City Commissioner aren’t necessarily on board with the idea.

The project is a semi-annual procedure to clean the cemetery in preparation for the grass and flower season.
