As the City of Breckenridge’s Street Improvement Project gets underway, some intersections in the areas of the work will be closed temporarily, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 22, with the intersection at West Elliott and South Harvey, according to information from the city manager.

The City has contracted with Raydon Inc. for the project, and they will begin with the concrete section of South Harvey. The work will include intersection work at Elliott and South Harvey and will require closing the intersection beginning Tuesday, Oct. 22, for approximately two weeks, depending on weather or other unforeseen issues. Once the prep work is completed, the crews will proceed to the Hullum/South Harvey intersection, which, likewise, will require portions of the intersection to be closed.

Local drivers are requested to use alternate routes during the road work. The intersection closures could affect travel in the area around South Elementary School.

The City will provide updates as the project proceeds on their website and Facebook page.

The project schedule will be to construct the concrete portion on South Harvey and then simultaneously, or shortly after, begin construction on the asphalt portions (all other streets) beginning with the streets in the northwest quadrant of the city, proceeding to northeast quadrant, then southeast quadrant streets and finishing with the southwest quadrant streets (see the map below).

On this map of the City of Breckenridge’s road improvement plan, the streets marked in yellow are scheduled for asphalt overlays, and the streets in blue will have concrete reconstruction. The red circle indicates the intersection of South Harvey Street and West Elliott Street, which will be closed temporarily, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 22, for the road work.
