With a flip of a switch Friday evening, downtown Breckenridge was turned into a holiday wonderland with the lighting of the community Christmas tree.

The Breckenridge Craft Guild will host its annual Craft Show this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 22 and 23, at the Breckenridge First Methodist Church’s Christian Life Center, 419 W. Walker St.

As we approach mid-November, the calendar is filling up with holiday events, from the annual lighting of the community Christmas tree, along with Mingle and Jingle, this weekend to the Christmas parade next month.

The Turkey Dinner will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Providence Ezell of Breckenridge, daughter of Heather and Chad Ezell, won Grand Champion in the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Art Contest on Oct. 26.

The theme for this year’s Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce awards ceremony is “A Celebration of Hometown Heroes.”

Local artist Becky Hicks spoke to members of the Breckenridge Woman’s Forum during their recent meeting.

Halloween is Thursday, Oct. 31, and the Breckenridge community has lots of events planned for that day and in the days leading up to the trick-or-treating.

Dr. Tom Echols has been practicing veterinary medicine in Stephens County for over 40 years, and now he’s retiring.

Halloween is next week, and not only will there be traditional trick-or-treating in local neighborhoods, but there are also a variety of organized activities planned on Oct. 31 and earlier.
