What began as a wedding celebration in 2018 is now a full-fledged music festival, and it’s returning to Woodson this month. The Walk This Earth Music Festival, founded by Liz and Jared McGovern of the Urban Pioneers, will bring together a diverse lineup of 34 bands for three days of roots, folk, blues and Americana music.

The festival will be held April 18–20 at 1555 FM 2850, southwest of Woodson. Tickets cost $125 for a weekend pass or $50 for single-day admission. Children 12 and under will be admitted free with adult supervision.

Originally launched as a music-filled wedding celebration for Liz and Jared, the event is returning five years later with support from their fellow musicians, including Rock Bottom String Band, Davis Bros Band, Pinata Protest, Carrie Nation & The Speakeasy, The Hooten Hallers, Possessed by Paul James, and many more.

Beyond music, festivalgoers can enjoy food trucks, vendor booths, scenic hayrides, adult and kids’ Easter egg hunts, and on-site camping. Both tent and RV options are included with weekend passes. The event is BYOB, as far as alcohol-based drinks are concerned.

The kids’ zone will offer free activities such as a bounce house, a dinosaur dig, a painting station, and a dedicated stage for children’s entertainment.

The serenaded hayrides will feature a 6-mile, 45-minute route with a brief midway stop atop a ranch bluff for a group photo. The hayrides will be free, but seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign-ups open one hour before each scheduled departure, and cash tips for drivers and performers will be welcomed. Serenading the hayriders will be Tommy Luke on Friday, April 18; The Lovebirds, Stefan Prigmore, Marty Bush and James Hunnicutt on Saturday, April 19; and Brook Blanche on Sunday, April 20.
