Boomfest
The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce will host Boomfest Independence Day celebration and fireworks show from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 4, at Corley’s Landing, near the swimming area at Hubbard Creek Lake. The fireworks show will begin at dark. There will be live music, food vendors, and activities for all ages. Click here for more details.

Salute in the Salt Flats
The 10th Annual Salute in the Salt Flats will be held Saturday, July 4, at 5790 FM 3418 south of Breckenridge, for the 2026 Independence Day holiday. There will be food trucks, and DJ Lowdown will begin performing at 7 p.m., and Addie Westbrook will sing the National Anthem. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at dusk. The Salute in the Salt Flats fireworks show is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit the area volunteer fire departments. Click here for more details.
Monday, July 6
Drive-Through rabies clinic
On Monday, July 6, the Stephens County Humane Society will host a low-cost, drive-through rabies vaccination clinic at the city park. The clinic will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the 500 block of East Hullum, at the red brick building (the Breck Trade Days Office, next to the sand volleyball court and across the street from the Trade Days Barn). The rabies shots will cost $10 per animal for dogs and cats. No other exams or shots will be offered at that time. All cats must be in a pet carrier or otherwise contained, and all dogs must be on a leash. The Humane Society asks that anyone bringing a dog that is not good with other animals muzzle the dog while they are at the shot clinic.

Dinosaur Valley State Park Library Programs
Dinosaur Valley State Park will present two educational programs at the Breckenridge Library on July 8. Children can enjoy a dinosaur-related storytime and activities at 3 p.m., followed by an evening session for adults focused on dinosaurs and fossils at 5 p.m. Click here for more details.
July 18 & 25
Photography Class
Breckenridge Texan publisher and photojournalist Tony Pilkington will teach a two-part photography class at the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center on Saturdays July 18 and July 25. Drawing on decades of photojournalism experience, including the Breckenridge Texan, he will share practical techniques that anyone can use to take better photographs. Participants will learn how to move beyond automatic settings and gain creative control of their images while developing the skills to capture meaningful moments and tell compelling stories. The cost will be $80 per person (includes both days). More details to come.
