Despite Friday and Saturday’s rains, Breckenridge kids still had a chance to find some Easter eggs at the annual East Elementary Egg Hunt on Saturday morning, April 5.

East Principal Shannon Deen moved the event inside, with the kids searching for eggs in the gym. There were 5,000 eggs filled with a variety of small prizes, with extra large gold and silver eggs containing special prizes. The youngsters were divided into three groups, by age, giving all of the kids a chance to find some eggs.

As each group of kids lined up along the edges of the gym, the Easter Bunny gave the signal to start, and the kids ran out onto the basketball court that was covered in plastic eggs.

After collecting all the eggs, each group of kids went to the school’s cafeteria to sort through their baskets and to eat lunch. Following the three egg hunts, the Easter Bunny posed for pictures with the kids and their families.

Other highlights of the morning included pictures with the Easter Bunny and hot dogs cooked up by the Wayland Volunteer Fire Department and the Hubbard Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Additional sponsors included Caddo VFD, Ray’s Wild Game, Ol’ Timer’s Diner, 509 Drink Shop, Lady Bug Pest, Water Store, Dos Gallo’s, Sunrise Burritos, Clay’s Tire Shop, Main Street Floral, Coffee State Farm, Ernie’s Spanish Kitchen, Graham Savings, Cricket Wireless, Sonic, Dairy Queen, Texan Credit, McDonald’s, Gary Trammel, and Soggy Dog.
