The National Theatre wrapped up its annual concert series Saturday night, April 5, with a performance by Tennessee singer/songwriter Brandon Davis.

Davis brought his band and his repertoire of original songs to Breckenridge, but his family — who often travels with him — stayed home because his wife, Destiny, is due to deliver twin girls soon.
But, Davis made sure to mention his wife and kids several times throughout the show, in his commentary between songs, as well as in the songs he performed, many of which were inspired by or dedicated to family members. He’s written songs about his wife, their kids, his dad, his grandfather and his grandmother.
Many of the songs from Davis’ Saturday night set are from his new album, “Jumped Right In,” scheduled to be released on Friday, April 11, including his show opener “Storm Chaser,” as well as the album’s title song.
“I really am blessed. I have an amazing family; I have a beautiful wife; I have a great career, guys that travel with me,” he told the audience. “But I’m telling you right now that every day is a new story, and everybody’s been asking me for a while when we were going to continue writing about ours. So this next song is going to be the title track to a new album that’s going to be releasing next Friday. It’s actually going to be my first vinyl album release. But this song talks about how our life is fast-paced. It’s out of order. It’s never ending. … It’s called ‘Jumped Right In,’ because that’s about the best way to describe our day to day in the Davis household.”

Early in the show, Davis encouraged the audience to respond to songs they liked with a loud “yee-haw!” Then, he spotted 4-year-old Kennedy Huston in the front row. The daughter of Amanda and Brady Huston joined Davis on stage and, on the count of three, gave him a big “yee-haw!” According to her parents’ Facebook posts, it was Kennedy’s first concert, but she’s been dancing around the house to Davis’ music since she was a baby.
Throughout the show, Kennedy and others in the audience showed their appreciation for Davis and his band with continued “yee-haws.”
About halfway through the show, Davis’ band took a short break while he picked up his guitar and played a few songs, solo and acoustic.
Following the concert, Davis posed for pictures with fans and signed t-shirts that he had for sale.
The concert was the final show of the National Theatre’s 2024-25 Performance Series. Other performances in the series included comedian Jonnie W. on Oct. 19; a song swap on Jan. 11 featuring musicians Kyle Fambro, Jared McLane, Jess Goodlett and Garrett Bryan; and, “New York, New York Dueling Pianos” on Feb. 15.
Upcoming events at the National Theatre include a free showing of “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” on April 26 and the Missoula Children’s Theatre camp in June. We’ll have more news on both of those events soon.
