On April 5, singer/songwriter Brandon Davis will bring his family-friendly country music show to Breckenridge’s National Theatre for the final concert in this year’s Performance Series.

In a phone call Friday morning, Davis said the show will be “chock full of original” music that he’s written himself.

“We try to bring a family-friendly, fun country show that is full of songs that mean a lot to me, and ones that we found over time have meant a lot to other people,” he said. “And we want to be able to give everyone from the age of…my youngest is five…so everyone from the age of five all the way to … 65 plus. We want y’all to be able to come to the show and have fun, and that’s the main goal, is just enjoying the music and knowing that it’s all for the entire family.”

Davis and his wife, Destiny, have five kids at home in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Destiny is due to have twin girls soon. So, although the family often accompanies Davis on his trips, it will just be him and the band in Breckenridge.

Several years ago, Davis worked as a design engineer for River City Fire Protection. But on the morning of Feb. 19, 2019, the car he was driving along highway 153 in Tennessee was hit head on by a distracted driver, his website explains. He had three lacerations to his liver and a ruptured colon and was becoming septic. Following major surgery, he spent two weeks in the hospital.

During that time, he realized that, although he had “pursued music just a bit, writing songs and playing various gigs with his dad Rick Davis, an accomplished musician,” he hadn’t really chased after his dreams. So, he decided to give music another shot.

He and Destiny started posting videos of Davis singing on YouTube and Facebook and then expanded to TikTok during the pandemic in 2020. That’s when he caught the attention of country music fans, as well as producers and other musicians. In 2022 he toured with Tim McGraw, opening for McGraw, before embarking on a tour of his own.

Davis said one of the biggest aspects of his music career is that it’s a family affair. His wife is his manager, and his kids are starting to get involved, wanting to be on stage with him.

“And so it’s become very much something that we all do together, not just something that I have to be able to carve out. … It’s something that we’re all going on the same adventure with,” Davis said. “And right now, we’re getting ready to welcome two more babies into the world. So the kids and my wife have had to hang back on a couple of shows, but that’s all in preparation of getting their two new twin baby sisters prepped and ready to go on the road with us down the line.”

Not only is his family involved with his performances, but they’re also the inspiration for many of his songs.

“It carries into so many different directions, too, both from experiences that we’ve had together (and) experiences that I’ve yet to even have with my kids…me kind of, you know, giving a look into the future of what I see down the line with my kids,” Davis said. “And I think that’s what’s been a huge inspiration on the writing side from the get go, because it allows me to show everyone, day in and day out … what I most enjoy. Because I love music, but my family has always come first, and if I can express that through songs and find ways to relate that to so many other families in the process, then I’m doing my job.”

Davis’ YouTube channel shows several songs/videos with millions of views, including “Forever and Always” and “More Than a Flag,” but he said one fan favorite is also his favorite.

“I think my favorite overall has got to be ‘Step by Step,” he said. “I say that because that was the first song that I really put out in the world about my family, and it was about my oldest two kids and our relationship. And so for me, it holds a special spot in my heart because of the story that I’m telling but also because it wound up being kind of a launching pad for us. And it showed people what my music was about, what I was about as an artist and kind of gave me a platform to stand on.

“I’ve actually been called out to weddings and engagements and all kinds of special appearances, let alone the concerts that we’ve booked over the past few years just because of that song,” Davis continued. “And it’s just because we finally, we tugged at the right heart string, I think. And it was a song that a lot of people wanted to hear, that maybe … some of them didn’t even know they needed it.”

Davis said his plans for the future include continuing to pursue his music.

“My goals for the future are to keep writing songs that inspire people and to make people want to make the best out of their life, and to have that music, hopefully, one day become as widespread as it can be,” he said. “And I’ve always said, when it comes to goals, you know, I want to grace the Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville, but however long it takes to get there, so long as my music has got legs to carry out the wherever it needs to go and reach the heart that truly needs to hear it, even if that’s a person I never meet in my life, then that’s the goal I want to achieve.”

His current tour will take him from Breckenridge, back to Tennessee and then one show in Oregon before he takes a couple of months off when the babies are born.

Davis said he’s looking forward to coming to Breckenridge on April 5 and will be around after the show to meet the audience.

“We are going to be bringing a brand new show that we have revamped for 2025 and it’s one that’s going to get you on your feet; it’s one that’s going to get you in your feels, and it’s one that we hope that you will never forget,” he said. So we’re bringing it all to you, and I promise it’s going to be experience of a lifetime, at least the best experience we can bring to Breckenridge from the BD camp.

“We always try to have a meet-and-greet afterwards, if at all possible,” Davis said. “So we’re going to be trying to make sure all those folks who came to the show get to tell us why they came and where they came from. And it makes it worth it, especially when we’re driving, we’re making a haul down there with the whole band and the bus. So we’d love to meet all the fans.”

The concert is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, at the National Theatre in downtown Breckenridge, 116 E. Walker St. The doors will open at 6 p.m., and the concert will start at at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $30 for adults (18+) and $15 for students (17 and under).
