Effective today, Tuesday, Dec. 16, the City of Breckenridge has lifted the city-wide Boil Water Notice that was initially issued on Tuesday, Dec. 9, according to a notice issued shortly after noon today.

Following a broken water line that drained both water towers, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the City of Breckenridge public water system to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

The City repaired the pipeline and the subsequently broken valve that left the community without water service for most of three days, Dec. 9-11. After the repairs were made, the system had to be re-pressurized and then the water had to be tested.

According to today’s notice, the public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use.

If you have questions, call City Manager Cynthia Northrop or Scott Bills at 254-559-8287.
