The annual Turkey Trot at Breckenridge’s South Elementary was as full of energy as always when about 300 students, along with some school staff members, parents and others, raced along a mile-long route through the neighborhood near the school this morning, Dec. 5.

In Breckenridge, it’s not time for the Thanksgiving holiday break until South Elementary hosts its annual Turkey Trot.
The Thanksgiving holidays got off to a running start for the students and staff at Breckenridge’s South Elementary when the school held its annual Turkey Trot race in the neighborhood around the school on Thursday, Nov. 16.
Turkey Trot kicked off the Thanksgiving holiday for the students and school personnel. Classes will resume on Nov. 28.
South Elementary students were joined by teachers, parents and others for the annual Turkey Trot run on Friday morning, the last day of school before the Thanksgiving holiday break.
Although Breckenridge’s North Elementary was shut down earlier this year, one of its traditions lives on — the annual Turkey Trot, which took place Friday, Nov. 20, the last day of school before the Thanksgiving holiday week.
