With a weather forecast showing high temperatures at 100 degrees or higher for the next week or two, the Stephens County Commissioners voted in a special meeting this morning, July 21, to put a burn ban in place for the county.

On Monday, March 10, the Stephens County Commissioners voted to implement a burn ban for the county.

At the Dec. 23 Stephens County Commissioners meeting, three retiring officials were honored by the court. And, at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, several new officials will be sworn in.

National Rural Health Day is Nov. 21.

Eric O’Dell, Stephens County Commissioner for Precinct 4, has announced his retirement and resignation.

David Fambro in Precinct 1 and Will Warren in Precinct 3, were re-elected over the two write-in candidates in today’s election.

Early voting in the 2024 General Election will begin on Oct. 21 and continue through Nov. 1. Election Day will be Tuesday, Nov. 5.
