Five young people from Breckenridge will represent the community at the district Hoop Shoot free throw contest later this month.
The annual Elks Hoop Shoot free throw contest for kids ages 8 to 13 is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, at LT Cook gym on North Smith Street, across from the junior high school. The local competition will be hosted by Elks Lodge No. 1480.
Two winners of the local Elks Club Hoop Shoot held in Breckenridge on Jan. 7 won first place at the Elks Club District Competition in Arlington on Jan. 20 and will now advance to the state championship on Feb. 17-18 in Dallas.
Stephens County’s Elks Lodge No. 1480 held its annual Hoop Shoot free throw contest last week, and the four top winners will be going to the district competition on Sunday, Jan. 20.
The annual Elks Hoop Shoot free throw contest for kids ages 8 to 13 is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, at the Breckenridge High School gym.
The Breckenridge Elks Lodge donated $3,000 from a National Elks Foundation grant to help bring motivational speaker Damon West to Breckenridge tonight, Sept. 24.
Several local organizations have upcoming fundraisers planned.
Members of local Elks Lodge #1480 presented a donation of $2,000 to the local Meals on Wheels organization.
Elks Lodge #1480 will host a Valentine’s Dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the lodge, 6074 FM 2231 just west of Breckenridge.
