Elks Lodge #1480 makes donation to Meals on Wheels
Members of local Elks Lodge #1480 presented a donation of $2,000 to the local Meals on Wheels organization on Thursday afternoon.
“Thank you so much! This will go a long way,” said Chris Curtis with Stephens Memorial Hospital, who accepted the check on behalf of Meals on Wheels. The hospital prepares the meals that are delivered to home-bound residents each week.
Each year, the Elks Lodge receives grant money from the national organization and decides how to share it with organizations in the community. This year, they also are making a donation to first responders.
In addition to receiving the grants, the organization also raises funds with local events and activities, such as dances, cornhole tournaments and more. They also serve food and drinks on Thursday and Friday nights, when the club, which is located at 6074 FM 2231, is open to non-members as well as members.
