Annual Elks Hoop Shoot scheduled for Saturday morning
The annual Elks Hoop Shoot free throw contest for kids ages 8 to 13 is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at L.T. Cook Gymnasium at Breckenridge High School, 502 W. Lindsey St. The local competition is hosted by Elks Lodge No. 1480.
The winners of the Breckenridge event are scheduled to go on to the district competition. However, according to information from the national Elks organization, all events are subject to change due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Due to the coronavirus, this year’s competition is scheduled for only the local and district level, the organization’s website states.
Participation in the Hoop Shoot is free for boys and girls. The contest is divided into three age groups: 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13. The age groups are based on the participants’ ages as of April 1, 2021.
