Christmas Parade lights up downtown Breckenridge; more holiday events scheduled
More than 30 floats were entered in the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce’s annual Christmas Parade, traveling down Walker Street through downtown, Thursday night, Dec. 15.
The theme of the parade was “All Things Santa,” and a slate of judges picked out the winners before the floats were presented to the community. Click here to see the Breckenridge Texan’s Photo Gallery from the parade.
The winning floats were:
- First Place: Texan Credit Corporation (pictured above)
- Second Place: Blast Dance Company
- Third Place: Rose Avenue Baptist Church
There are still several upcoming holiday events scheduled, before Christmas Day on Sunday, Dec. 25.
Saturday, Dec. 17
Breakfast with Santa and Craft Fair
East Elementary will host a Santa Breakfast and Craft Fair for the community on Saturday, Dec. 17, from beginning at 9 a.m. The Pancake Breakfast will be from 9 to 11 a.m. in the school’s cafeteria, and the craft fair will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be no charge for the breakfast, which will be sponsored by United Supermarket, and the crafters will be selling gift items. To participate as a vendor, call Tammy McGrady at 254-212-4630. If she doesn’t answer, leave a message, and she will call you back.
Monday. Dec. 19
Second-graders Caroling
On Monday, Dec. 19, the second-grade students from East Elementary will sing Christmas carols at the Stephens County Courthouse at 11:30 a.m.
Tuesday, Dec. 20
Kindergartners Christmas program
On Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 9:30 a.m. the kindergarten students will present a Christmas program in the East Elementary cafeteria.
Third-grade Christmas Play
At 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, South Elementary’s third-graders will present “The Littlest Christmas Tree” at Bailey Auditorium.
Thursday, Dec. 22
Visits with Santa
From 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, Santa will be available to visit with children at the business office of Stephens Memorial Hospital, located across the street from the hospital’s main entrance, at 207 S. Geneva St. Cookie and punch will be served, and the foyer will be decorated for photo ops. The event will be free and open to the public.
