According to information from the Breckenridge Police Department, the charges are a result of the shooting on Friday, Nov. 22, on South Stoker Avenue. Vernon Lee Glenn, age 64, of Breckenridge was fatally shot at about 4:30 p.m. Friday. Glenn is Bills’ grandfather.
According to a complaint by Texas Ranger Bo Bowden, Glenn was discovered dead inside a recreational vehicle (RV) at 807 S. Stoker Ave., having received multiple gunshots to the chest. The RV was the residence of Bills, who was seen leaving the scene with a gun, Bowden reported.
In the report, Bowden states that several hours later, Bills was arrested in Eastland County, where he had fled to his grandmother’s residence after the shooting. According to the report, Bills was taken into custody without incident.
Bowden reports that he and another Texas Ranger conducted a custodial interview with Bills at the Eastland County Jail and that, in that interview, Bills said he shot his grandfather with a .40 caliber Glock pistol. Bills reportedly told the Rangers that the gun was in his pickup.
Bills was kept in custody at the Eastland County Jail until Monday afternoon, Nov. 25, when he was transported to the Stephens County Jail. According to the conditions that accompany his $400,000 bond, he cannot be released from jail without meeting a variety of conditions, including:
