Parade and bonfire get community fired up for tonight’s Buckaroo Homecoming football game

The community-wide 2024 Breckenridge High School Homecoming events kicked off Wednesday evening with a parade and bonfire. Activities will continue today with a pep rally at noon and the football game at 7 p.m.

The pep rally will be BHS Athletic Facility’s main gym and will be open to the public.

Before the game, the Homecoming Court will be presented and the Homecoming Queen and King announced, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Buckaroo Stadium.

Kickoff for the game against the Tolar Rattlers is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tickets are available to purchase online; the price is $5 (+$1.49 processing fee) for adult general admission and $3 (+$1.43 processing fee) for student general admission. Click here to get tickets.

Wednesday’s parade featured dozens of community and school floats, including the Six White Horses from Hardin-Simmons University displaying the American and Texas flags.

The parade was organized by the BISD All-Sports Booster Club with Gentry Wimberley as the organizer. Robert Burchett was the parade announcer, and the judges were Amy Judkins, Roy Russell, and JB Sparks.

The winning floats were:

  • First Place: Wee School
  • Second Place: Breckenridge Youth Flag Football League
  • Third Place: Breckenridge Little League Tackle Football

After the parade in downtown Breckenridge, the crowd went to the local baseball fields for a Homecoming Bonfire.
