The Breckenridge Buckaroos started their 2024 season Friday evening on the road in Holliday as they faced the No. 8 (Class 3A Div. II) state-ranked Holliday Eagles.

With the UIL’s recent realignment of high school sports districts, Breckenridge High School will be facing some new opponents in the upcoming fall sports season.
Several members of the Breckenridge High School varsity football and volleyball teams recently received All-District honors, and several members of the volleyball team were named to the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Academic All-State teams.
After a 14-14 tie score at halftime, the Buckaroos came up empty-handed in the second half, and Clyde won the game, 34-14.
Friday night was the last home game of the season for the Breckenridge Buckaroos, and they beat Bowie 28-21.
With two games left to decide the top four teams from the district, the Buckaroos will need to win the final two games to stay in the playoff conversation.
The Lions came out ahead, 42-20.
The 31-28 loss puts Breckenridge in fourth place in district standings.
The Buckaroos’ first district game of the season will kickoff at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, in Buckaroo Stadium.
