Breckenridge’s annual National Night Out set for Tuesday, Oct. 1

This year’s National Night Out event, hosted by the City of Breckenridge and the Breckenridge Police Department, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Stephens County Law Enforcement Center, 210 E. Dyer St.

Admission to the event will be free and open to the public, and there will be free food and drinks, a live DJ and music, games and prizes, a child ID/fingerprinting booth, equipment demonstrations, and more.

The BPD will team up with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, Breckenridge Fire Department, area volunteer fire departments, Sacred Cross EMS and other first responders and community organizations to present the event that is designed to strengthen community spirit and partnerships with law enforcement and first responders, generate support for community organizations and programs, raise crime prevention awareness and send a strong message to criminals that the entire community is working together to fight crime. In many parts of the country, NNO takes place in August, but Texas cities host their events in October due to avoid the summer heat.

For more information, call the City of Breckenridge at 254-559-8287 or the BPD at 254-559-2211. Additional information is also available on the National Night Out website, www.natw.org, and the City of Breckenridge website, www.breckenridgetx.gov.
