Once again, the Sloan Everett Pure Country Pedal Memorial Bike Ride set a record for the most money raised for local volunteer fire departments through the fundraiser’s annual bicycle ride: a total of $42,961.80.

Dozens of bike riders gathered in the Breckenridge City Park on Saturday morning, Oct. 19, for the eighth annual Sloan Everett Pure Country Pedal Memorial Bike Ride, raising funds for local volunteer fire departments.

The eighth annual Sloan Everett Pure Country Pedal Memorial Bike Ride is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, in the Breckenridge City Park, offering five routes, brunch, live entertainment and a chance to help support local volunteer fire departments.

The local community had a chance to meet law enforcement officers, first responders and others at the annual National Night Out event, hosted by the Breckenridge Police Department last week.

This year’s National Night Out event, hosted by the City of Breckenridge and the Breckenridge Police Department, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Stephens County Law Enforcement Center, 210 E. Dyer St.

Area firefighters are on the scene of a grassfire in northeast Stephens County, just hours after the County Commissioners enhanced the burn ban that’s been in place since June 24.

Law enforcement agencies, along with other first responders and local organizations, gathered on Oct. 3 for National Night Out, hosted by the Breckenridge Police Department.

The Texas A&M Forest Service is on the scene now.

This year’s bike ride will be Saturday, Nov. 5.
