Walker Street Trick-or-Treat and Downtown Family Fun Fest

The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce will host the traditional Walker Street Trick-or-Treat on Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31, but this year, the City of Breckenridge and Stephens County have partnered with the Chamber to present an evening activity as well. The Downtown Family Fun Fest will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. in downtown Breckenridge on Halloween evening.

For Walker Street Trick-or-Treat, the Chamber will put together a list of local businesses on Walker Street and beyond that will be handing out candy to kids for the holiday. The event will take place during the regular business hours of the participating businesses, mostly from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but some businesses may close earlier or stay open later. The wide range of hours allows younger children and daycares to trick-or-treat early in the day, and then school-age kids can stop by after school. Call the Chamber at 254-559-2301 to get a business put on the list of participants.

Then, beginning at 3 p.m., part of Elm Street and Rose Avenue will be blocked off to provide room for the Downtown Family Fun Fest, which will include trunk-or-treat vehicles.

Additionally, there will be a costume contest, pumpkin decorating contest, and lots of candy.

Businesses or organizations can set up a booth on the courthouse lawn; participate in the trunk-or-treat on Elm Street and Rose Avenue; or, become a candy sponsor.

The costume contest will include categories for the funniest costume, best budget costume, and most creative costume.

The Downtown Family Fun Fest has several sponsors, including:

  • Clear Fork Bank, which is sponsoring the SnapJoy photo booth
  • MLR Graphics, which is sponsoring the trophies for the costume contest
  • The Station Oil Change Service, which will decorate the event’s entrance arch

Any business or organization that is interested in participating in either Halloween event needs to call the Chamber at 254-559-2301.

In addition to Walker Street Trick-or-Treat and the Downtown Family Fun Fest, other Halloween events may be going on around town. The Breckenridge Texan will have more information on all of the Halloween and/or fall festival events later this month.
