Christmas is 20 days away, and downtown Breckenridge is decked out with lots of lights and other holiday decorations. This week will see several seasonal activities, and more are planned in the upcoming days.

Lighted Christmas Parade

The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce will host a lighted Christmas parade through downtown on Wednesday, Dec. 8, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

During the parade, there will also be free Dippin’ Dots ice cream for kids, courtesy of Copperleaf Properties. They will be set up across from the courthouse in the lot next to the former Beall’s store.

Additionally, Wallace Insurance and the Marines Toys for Tots program will offer a barbecue sandwich meal for those who bring a toy for the Toys for Tots toy drive during the parade. They will be outside Wallace Insurance at 126 W. Walker.

Christmas Sign Workshop

The Breckenridge Fine Arts Center will offer a Christmas Sign Workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7. The cost will be $60, which must be paid in advance via PayPal to info@breckenridgefineart.org. For more information, call the BFAC at 254-559-6602.

Band Concert

The Breckenridge Junior High School and Breckenridge High School bands will perform a Christmas concert from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, in Bailey Auditorium.

The concert will be free and open to the public.

Shine Concert

The band Shine will present a Christmas concert at the National Theatre on Saturday, Dec. 11.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and a meet-the-artists reception will follow the concert. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for students. A family four-pack (two adults, two kids) can be purchased for $40 — a savings of $10. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the event, or they may be purchased online for a small fee by clicking here.

The National Theatre is located at 116 E. Walker in downtown Breckenridge. For more information, click here to read the Breckenridge Texan article.

Third-Grade Christmas Parade

Breckenridge third-graders will present their annual Christmas play at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, in Bailey Auditorium.

A Night of Worship

First Baptist Church of Breckenridge will present “A Night of Worship,” featuring the sounds of the season, beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19.

Stockings for Senior Citizens

Stephens Memorial Hospital is collecting Christmas stockings for residents who receive home-delivered meals, as well as for local nursing home residents. They are asking anyone who can to get a Christmas stocking and fill it with goodies for the home-bound and nursing home residents. Some suggested items for the stockings include lap blankets, socks, hats, scarves, gloves, non-perishable pre-packaged snacks, activity books, pens, lotions and body wash.

The Christmas stockings can be dropped off at the hospital, 200 S. Geneva, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. They will be collecting the stockings through Dec. 17. For more information, call Chris Curtis at 254-559-2241.
