Beginning Wednesday, July 30, (weather permitting), a Texas Department of Transportation contractor, Wagner & Co., will begin the district-wide application of sealcoat to state roadways throughout the Brownwood District, which includes Stephens County, according to a news release from TxDOT.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has provided updates on two major road construction projects in Breckenridge in an email received by Stephens County Judge Michael Roach on April 28, 2025.

The new traffic signals at the intersection of U.S. Highway 180 West and FM 3099 in Stephens County, near Walmart and Tractor Supply, will be fully operational next week.

A new traffic signal is set to be activated at the intersection of FM 3099 and U.S. Highway 180 West in Breckenridge as part of the ongoing intersection realignment project.

Stephens County Judge Michael Roach pointed out in an email that the ongoing construction has created significant challenges for the local community.

Breckenridge and Stephens County are scheduled for additional repairs/road work by the Texas Department of Transportation with two separate projects beginning this week.
