Beginning approximately Wednesday, June 12, the Texas Department of Transportation’s contractor will begin cleaning and sealing the joints of the U.S. Highway 180 bridge over Hubbard Creek Reservoir, aka the “mile-long bridge,” according to a news release from Lisa Tipton, TxDOT-Brownwood District public information officer.

The process is preventative maintenance to extend the life of the structure, Tipton said.

The work schedule will be dependent on the weather. Crews will perform the work at night to minimize the impact to traffic. The work is expected to be complete by the end of August.

During working hours, traffic will be reduced to one lane and a traffic control device will be in place. Motorists should expect possible delays during work hours.

TxDOT advises drivers to use caution when driving through the work zone, obey warning and speed limit signs, avoid distractions, and watch for crews and equipment in and near the work zone.

For more information, contact Tipton at lisa.tipton@txdot.gov or 325-643-0413.
