New traffic signals at US 180 and FM 3099 to become operational next week
The new traffic signals at the intersection of U.S. Highway 180 West and FM 3099 in Stephens County, near Walmart and Tractor Supply, will be fully operational next week, according to information from TxDOT.
In a March 24 email to Stephens County Judge Michael Roach, Jordan R. Perry, the Eastland Area Engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation’s Brownwood District, said that the traffic signals, which are already installed, will initially operate with flashing red lights, functioning as a four-way stop to allow motorists time to adjust to the new traffic pattern.
After about a week of flashing red, the signal will switch to full activation, officially opening the southern section of FM 3099. TxDOT expects the FM 3099 project to be substantially complete by late April or early May, weather permitting.
Local drivers should exercise caution and treat the intersection like a four-way stop during the initial signal activation period.
At the same time, work is ongoing on the U.S. Highway 183 North project, with contractors on track to have traffic flowing on the final road surface by mid-May 2025.
