Stephens County and the City of Breckenridge are offering residents opportunities to dispose of storm-related brush and debris following the storms last weekend that caused damage to homes, trees and other property in the area.

City of Breckenridge Brush/Bulk Pickup

City of Breckenridge residents may dispose of storm-related brush and debris in conjunction with the Republic Services’ citywide bulk pickup that was already scheduled for Thursday, July 16.

In addition to regular bulk items (furniture and other items too large for the regular trash can), City of Breckenridge residents may put out branches and other brush from trees and shrubs that were damaged in the recent storm. Brush must be bundled in 4-foot bundles, and residents must register by Friday, July 10. Registration may be completed by calling City Hall at 254-559-8287 during normal business hours or by filling out the City’s online registration form (click here).

A second option allows city residents to dispose of brush free of charge at the Convenience Station by presenting a current City of Breckenridge water bill.

For more information, call City Hall at 254-559-8287.

Stephens County Cleanup

Stephens County also is assisting with cleanup efforts in area around Hubbard Creek Lake, which was hit by Sunday night’s windstorms. According to county officials, county crews have been working in the affected areas to help with storm cleanup.

County officials asked lake-area residents to place downed tree limbs and branches along the roadside for collection in two weeks.
