On Saturday morning, March 14, Breckenridge Elks Lodge No. 1480 presented four area volunteer fire departments with supplies purchased with an Elks grant.
The supplies included first aid kits, nitrite gloves, and towelettes.
Additionally, earlier this year, the organization used some of the grant funds to host a CPR class for the VFDs.
The supplies and CPR class were made available to the Hubbard Creek VFD, Caddo VFD, Wayland VFD and Olden VFD.
Breckenridge Elks Exalted Ruler John Powell said the grants are provided by the Elks National Foundation for distribution to first responders. The local Elks lodge has decided for the past two years to donate the funds to the volunteer fire departments in the area.
The Breckenridge Elks Lodge has received more than $11,000 in grants within the last year and donated the funds to various organizations in the Breckenridge community. In the past, they have made contributions to Dr. Goodall’s House, Meals on Wheels, U.S. veterans in the nursing home, and special needs kids.
