Traffic on U.S. Highway 180 West was blocked for about an hour and a half Friday afternoon, Nov. 13, following a major wreck at the highway’s intersection with FM 2231. Two Air Evac helicopters landed on the highway and transported crash victims to the hospital.

The wreck occurred at about 2:10 p.m. when the driver of an eastbound white Chevrolet Tahoe swerved to avoid a crash with another eastbound vehicle that allegedly pulled into the Tahoe’s lane, according to officials at the scene. The Tahoe, with the driver and four passengers, flipped over and came to rest on its side.

According to officials at the scene, the other vehicle allegedly involved in the incident did not stop and the occupants of that vehicle might not have known about the wreck.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, Breckenridge Police Department, Breckenridge Fire Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, AMR ambulance service and Air Evac air ambulance service responded to the scene.

In addition to the two crash victims transported by Air Evac, another victim was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital by private vehicle as a precautionary measure.

The names of those involved in the accident have not been released at this time. This story will be updated when an official report is released.
