Breckenridge elects new mayor, commissioner in May 2 election; other city, BISD positions unchanged

After the election on Saturday, May 2, Breckenridge will soon have a new mayor and one new city commissioner, but the rest of the city commission and the local school board will remain the same.

City Election

Kord Trammel had the most votes for mayor, unseating current Mayor Bob Sims and beating out two additional challengers, Brent Ensey and Paul Huntington, who is the Place 4 City Commissioner. Place 1 City Commissioner Blake Hamilton will maintain his position on the commission after garnering more votes than challenger John Green. Justin Rose was unopposed for the Place 2 commission seat, currently held by Greg Akers, who did not run for re-election.

Although the results are unofficial until canvassed, the City of Breckenridge released the following results:

The votes are scheduled to be canvassed at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at City Hall, 105 N. Rose Ave.

BISD Election

In the Breckenridge Independent School District Board of Trustees election, there were four positions open. Three candidates were unopposed, and Place 4 had four candidates. The school board will remain unchanged as incumbent Paul Lippe had the most votes for Place 4.

According to information from BISD, the votes will be canvassed at a special BISD meeting at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 11, at the administration office, 208 N. Miller St.
