Local registered voters will have a chance to elect their government representatives for the school district, city commission and Fort Griffin Special Utility District, beginning with Early Voting this week and wrapping up with Election Day on May 2.

Filing closes for city, school and hospital board elections; several offices to have contested races
The filing window for candidates to run for office on the Breckenridge City Commission, school board and hospital board closed on Friday, Feb. 13, and several of the races are contested. The election will be on May 2 with Early Voting to take place April 20-28.
Filing for county offices on the March 2026 Democratic and Republican primary election is underway and will continue through Dec. 8.
Will Thompson, the Stephens County Appraisal District’s Chief Appraiser, announced today that he intends to run for the Stephens County Judge position. In the race for State Representative – District 60, incumbent Mike Olcott and challenger Amy Fennel have announced their intentions to run.
