11:00 2026

Early voting for the 2026 midterm elections ended Friday, with 1,761 ballots cast in Stephens County through in-person voting and mail-in ballots, according to information provided to the Texas Secretary of State by Stephens County election officials. Those who haven’t voted yet will head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 3, for Election Day.

Of the county’s 5,908 registered voters, 1,651 voted in person during early voting, representing 27.95% of registered voters. The county also received 110 mail-in ballots, bringing the combined total to 1,761 ballots, or 29.81% of registered voters, by the end of early voting.

The turnout was higher than the early voting total for the 2022 general election, when 1,640 ballots were cast in person and by mail. At that time, Stephens County had 5,712 registered voters, and 28.71% had voted by the end of early voting. That election included 1,508 in-person voters and 132 mail-in ballots.

However, early voting turnout in 2026 remained below the level recorded during the 2024 presidential election. In that election, 2,863 ballots were cast during early voting, including 2,746 in-person ballots and 117 mail-in ballots. With 5,881 registered voters, the county recorded an early voting turnout of 48.68%.
