For the first time in eight years, Breckenridge has a new mayor, after outgoing Mayor Bob Sims passed the gavel to the newly elected Kord Trammel at the City Commission meeting Tuesday night, June 2.

After the election on Saturday, May 2, Breckenridge will soon have a new mayor and one new city commissioner, but the rest of the city commission and the local school board will remain the same.
Election Day for the Breckenridge City Commission and Breckenridge school board, as well as the Fort Griffin Special Utility District board will be Saturday, May 2.
Local registered voters will have a chance to elect their government representatives for the school district, city commission and Fort Griffin Special Utility District, beginning with Early Voting this week and wrapping up with Election Day on May 2.
Applications for the various positions that are up for election this year will be accepted through Feb. 13.
