A fire on the west side of Breckenridge destroyed a building known as Shawna’s Bake Barn early Sunday morning, Jan. 21.
The Breckenridge Fire Department responded to the fire at 2603 W. Walker St., across the street from the Ridge Motel and Familia’s Mexican Restaurant, at about 6:40 a.m. The fire was reported by a neighbor.
The Hubbard Creek Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the blaze, helping to keep the fire from spreading to nearby grass. Additionally, the Breckenridge Police Department, Stephens County Sheriff’s Office and Sacred Cross EMS responded to the scene.
When firefighters arrived, the building was fully engulfed and the fire was already up into the second floor, firefighters said. The structure was completely destroyed.
Breckenridge Fire Chief Malcolm Bufkin said the cause of the fire is under investigation but that it appears to have started at the back of the building. There were no injuries related to the fire, firefighters said.
Seven BPD fire trucks and two HCVFD trucks were on the scene to fight the fire.
