The City of Breckenridge has declared two Boil Water Notices in the past 24 hours for two areas of Breckenridge.

Today’s notice, effective Aug. 23, 2023, is for an area bounded by Rose Street south of Dallas Street, West and East Cottage Street, South Cutting from Cottage to Aberdeen and Rose/U.S. Highway 183. It also includes West and East Powers Street, East Valley and East Parrish Street. (See the map below.)

The notice issued on Tuesday, Aug. 22, does not include a written description of the affected area, but it does have a map (posted below) showing the area along South Harding Street that is under the boil water notice.

Due to a water line break, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City to notify all customers within the affected area to boil their water prior to consumption. To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

The Boil Water Notice will be in effect for a minimum of 48 hours. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, water system officials will notify each customer directly in the affected area.

For more information, call the City Offices at 254-559-8287 or the Water Office at 254-559-7249.
