Rain chances lessen; most weekend activities still on schedule

The National Weather service predicts that the chance of rain in Breckenridge by 7 p.m. this evening will drop to 20 percent as the clouds move eastward.

In light of the 60 percent chance of precipitation that will linger until after 6 p.m., First National Bank of Breckenridge has decided to postpone the customer appreciation tailgate party they had planned for this evening.

Other activities will continue on as planned, sunshine or rain. On the calendar for Friday night and Saturday:

  • 7 p.m. Friday – Breckenridge Buckaroos vs. the Eastland Mavericks in Buckaroo Stadium.
  • 9 a.m. Saturday – Sloan Everett Memorial Bike Ride – A memorial service will begin at 9 a.m. at the Disc Golf Pavilion behind the old American Legion building; and, the bike ride will follow, starting in the Breckenridge City Park.
  • 8 a.m. Saturday – City-wide Garage Sale Event – Garage sales are happening all day, with many beginning at 8 a.m. For a list of local garage sales, download the two-page map (2018 Garage Sale Map-Page 1 and 2018 Garage Sale Map-Page 2), or click here to link to an online map.
  • 9:30 a.m. – noon Saturday – Beans and Cornbread Cookoff at Breck Trade Days in the Trade Days Barn at the Breckenridge City Park. For more information, click here to see the Breckenridge Texan article.
  • 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday – Class of 1965 Reunion at the Marketplace.
