The Rotary Club of Breckenridge and Carter BloodCare will host a blood drive from noon to 4:45 p.m. Thursday, March 3, in the First National Bank Community Room.

Last week, when Breckenridge Rotary Club members Les and Sherry Strickland showed up at South Elementary to hand out dictionaries to the school’s third graders, they found a very enthusiastic audience.

For the first time in the five-year history of the Breckenridge Rotary Club’s Battle of the Badges blood drive, the Breckenridge Police Department won the friendly competition between the local first responders.

The Rotary Club of Breckenridge was joined at their regular Tuesday meeting by organizations District Governor for District 5790, Roger Paschal, and his wife, Linda Jean, as they recognized three long-time members of the local club.

The residents of Stephens County and beyond will have a chance to help the first responders of their choice win the Breckenridge Rotary Club’s fifth annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drives next month.

The Breckenridge Rotary Club will team up with Carter BloodCare for a local blood drive from noon to 5 p.m.

If there’s a silver lining to someone having contracted COVID-19 and survived, it could be that their blood — more specifically their plasma — can be used to help others who are suffering from the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. And, Carter BloodCare is seeking Stephens County residents who have had and recovered from COVID-19 to consider making a plasma donation.

This year’s winner of the fourth annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive, sponsored by the Breckenridge Rotary Club, was
