The Texas Department of Transportation issued a statement today, saying the Stephens County bridge on U.S. Highway 180 West over Hubbard Creek Lake could be reopened by Jan. 11. Stephens
The U.S. Highway 180 bridge over Hubbard Creek Reservoir, aka the “Mile-Long Bridge,” was shut down by the Texas Department of Transportation Friday evening, Dec. 22, due to damage to the bridge.
The application for a wastewater permit by the Peninsula RV Resort was withdrawn by the applicant on Sept. 14.
Local emergency responders recovered the body of an apparent drowning victim at Hubbard Creek Reservoir this evening, Wednesday, Sept. 20.
The TCEQ notice states that a public meeting will be held, but a date has not been made public.
The date and location of the meeting have not been determined yet.
Both sides of the issue weigh in on the topic.
Food, fun and fireworks was the agenda for Saturday evening’s community fireworks show at Hubbard Creek Lake, and another evening of patriotic display is scheduled for tonight just north of Canyon Road Barn and Grill restaurant, 5790 FM 3418.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has designated Lake Brownwood, Inks Lake, and Medina Lake in the Colorado and San Antonio River basins as “infested” with invasive zebra mussels.
