The Breckenridge High School girls powerlifting team left Breckenridge at 7 a.m. today, Wednesday, March 12, on their way to the state championship in Edinburg. Three members of the BHS boys powerlifting team will compete in the boys state championship next week.

Millie Walling of Breckenridge won first place in the Elks State Hoop Shoot contest on Saturday, Feb. 22, in Carrollton, and will advance to the regional competition next month.
Millie Walling, who won the local Hoop Shoot contest earlier this month in the Girls 8-9 category, won the district contest in Arlington on Jan. 18.
Five young people from Breckenridge will represent the community at the district Hoop Shoot free throw contest later this month.
The annual Elks Hoop Shoot free throw contest for kids ages 8 to 13 is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, at LT Cook gym on North Smith Street, across from the junior high school. The local competition will be hosted by Elks Lodge No. 1480.
With the final team of District 3-3A (Jim Ned) eliminated from the Class 3A football playoffs last week, the official post-season all-district honors were announced by Buckaroo head coach Casey Pearce shortly after Jim Ned defeat.
The Breckenridge Buckaroos wrapped up the season with a dominating win of 58-0 over the San Angelo-TLCA Eagles.
In an effort to play the spoiler for the district-leading Sweetwater Mustangs’ district title, the Buckaroos had a tale of two halves once again Friday evening at Buckaroos Stadium.
It was another tough night on the gridiron for the Breckenridge Buckaroos as they faced the Comanche Indians Friday night, Oct. 25, at Buckaroo Stadium.
The Breckenridge Buckaroos continued their District 3-3A campaign Friday evening in Tuscola as they took on the Jim Ned Indians.
