Strickland ‘Jerry’ Vincent
Strickland “Jerry” Vincent, age 89 of Breckenridge, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday, August 8, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 11, at The Lighthouse Church with Bishop W.C. Roach and Rev. Michael Roach officiating. Interment will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, August 10, at Morehart Mortuary.
Strickland Vincent was born June 14, 1929, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to parents Peter Daniel Vincent and Dora McKay Vincent. When he was 17 years old, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. While in the Army, he was a paratrooper and had been stationed in Japan before his honorable discharge. On May 17, 1971, Strickland married Daphna Faye Williams Boggs in Graham. Strickland worked in the oilfield for many years. In his younger years, he was involved in the rodeo and riding bareback horses and bulls. He was a member of The Lighthouse Church. He was blessed with 10 children, 24 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dora McKay Vincent; his father, Peter Daniel Vincent; one daughter, Donna Faye Boggs Taylor Speer; one great-grandson, Cherokee Wayne Dabney; and his former wife, Rosalee Cravey.
Strickland is survived by his wife, Daphna Vincent; his children, Jerrine Vincent of Plano, Charles Daniel Vincent and wife Lisa of Carrollton, Leshia Carlene Boggs Brewster and husband Mark, Sherilyn Renee Boggs Funderburg and husband Robert, Leonard Clinton (Clint) Boggs, Dora LouAnn Vincent Lee Karl and husband Cody, Jerri Corene (Cori) Vincent Roach and husband Michael, Stricia Lynn Vincent Robertson Nelson and husband Mark, and Strickland Michael Vincent, all of Breckenridge; 24 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
