Mike Fields, 83, of Breckenridge, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 21, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Werth Mayes officiating. Interment will follow in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, February 20, at Morehart Mortuary.

Michael Douglas Fields, Sr. was born October 6, 1942, in Big Spring, Texas, to Silas Christopher Fields and Mary Francis Hale Fields. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1961. He attended Tarleton State College until transferring to Texas Tech in 1963. On August 22, 1964, he married Betty Huffman in Breckenridge at the Bates Chapel at First Baptist Church. He graduated from Texas Tech in 1966 with a degree in Agricultural Education. He began his career teaching ag in Megargel, Texas upon graduation from Texas Tech. From there, he worked for the Texas Department of Agriculture, marketing Texas Agricultural products. He moved his family to Breckenridge in 1979, where he resumed his Ag Teaching career. Mr. Fields taught Ag in Breckenridge for 23 years before retiring in 2002, when he became a full-time farmer and rancher. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and spend time out plowing, working cattle, or just enjoying the peace of the land.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Cindy Jo Fields.

Mr. Fields is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Fields of Breckenridge; his sister, Marilyn Jo Fields of Dallas; three children, Traci Fambrough and husband Tommy of Aledo, Michael Fields, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Longview, and Megan Boukadoum and husband Alem of Aledo; nine grandchildren, Trey Fambrough and wife Tagan, Taryn Fambrough, Tristyn Sterling, Katie Pimentel and husband Ethan, Ryan Boukadoum, Caden Boukadoum, Trig Fields, Kellyn Boukadoum, and Evan Boukadoum; one great-grandson, Nash Sterling; one brother-in-law, R.D. Lee; one sister-in-law, Gayle Huffman; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Beyond his family, Mr. Fields leaves a lasting legacy in the countless students whose lives were touched by the lessons he taught both in and beyond the classroom.

The family would like to thank the staff at Renew Home Health, Solaris Hospice, and Vicki Wright for their care of Mr. Fields over the last few months.

Memorials may be made to the Stephens County Junior Livestock Show or to the Breckenridge FFA and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. Condolences may be made online at www.morehartmortuary.net.
