The charges against Shane Anthony of Breckenridge were upgraded to murder today, Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the death of Chyra Davis, who was found deceased yesterday at a property owned by Anthony.
According to a news release from Breckenridge Police Chief Blake Johnson, the Breckenridge Police Department served a warrant of arrest on Anthony, age 47, today in the Stephens County Jail. He was originally arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 27, on a charge of tampering with a human corpse. He is now charged with Penal Code 19.02 Murder of Chyra Davis, who was 24 years old. That is a first degree felony, and his bond is set at $1,000,000.
Davis’ family last heard from her via a TikTok conversation on Jan. 18. They became concerned when she suddenly disconnected from the social media app and didn’t contact them again. The family said she was last seen the night of Jan. 18 leaving the Breckenridge residence where she lived with Anthony.
Davis had been the subject of a multi-county search; she was originally from Mineral Wells, had been living in Breckenridge and had family in Graham. The family posted “missing person” posters online for several days and was working with the police and Texas Rangers to try and locate her.
On Tuesday, Jan. 27, the Texas Rangers and Breckenridge police discovered her body at a residence at 602 S. O’Connor St., during their investigation into her disappearance. At the time Davis’ body was discovered, Anthony was not in custody, but he was named as a person of interest and was being sought by police.
Later Tuesday evening, Johnson reported that Anthony had been located and taken into custody.
