Gwen Boaz
Gwendolyn Boaz, 84, of Ranger, Texas, passed away on October 20, 2025. Her memorial service at Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories will be held on Friday, October 24, beginning at 10 a.m., with Joel Sanders officiating.
Born on October 20, 1941, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Allie Lorraine Stephenson and John Walter Gandy, Gwendolyn “Gwen” Gandy Boaz peacefully went home to be with the Lord on her 84th birthday, October 20, 2025.
She grew up in Lake Worth, Texas, graduating from Lake Worth High School. After marrying, she made her home in Breckenridge, Texas, dedicating her life to raising her beloved girls and creating a warm, inviting home and friendships.
Her love for flowers and tending the yard was evident to all who visited, as was her passion for decorating, every room always reflected her sense of order and beauty. She especially loved decorating for the holidays so her grandchildren and great-grandchildren could enjoy the magic and excitement she created each season.
Later, moving to Necessity, Texas, she found great joy in watching the wildlife that visited her home: deer, birds, road runners, and rabbits. Feeding the birds and deer and watching them eat from her bird feeders became a cherished ritual along with an occasional bobcat in the bird bath.
Coffee in hand, a Dwight Yoakam song playing in the background, she filled her days with laughter and fellowship, especially savoring time spent with her dearest friends, Karen Maag and Annette Boaz, and the ladies of the Necessity Baptist Church.
She took immense pride in her grandchildren, attending their games, performances, and milestones with enthusiasm and love.
Her gentle strength, keen eye for beauty, and genuine kindness touched every person who had the privilege to know her.
She is survived by daughters Carole Elder and Clay, Stephanie Boaz-Singleton and Neil, and Stacey Donaldson and Eric; grandchildren, Cassie Wimberley and Cory, Caleb Elder, Austin Singleton and Teayana, Tanner Singleton and Jacqueline, Haley Donaldson, and Kenzie Wright and Mason; and great-grandchildren Caegan, Cohen, and Clay Elder, Cole, Luca, Denver, and Waylon Singleton, Cooper and Claire Wimberley, and Grayson and Grant Wright.
She will be deeply missed by all who cherish her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Stephens County Humane Society. Memorials can be left at Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home, and condolences can be made at meltonkitchens.com.
