For the second year, Terry McCoy has made a donation to the residents of Villa Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center in memory of his late wife, Lynn McCoy, who passed away last year less than two months before Christmas. Earlier this week, he presented fleece blankets and hand-held grabber/reacher tools.

This year, the Rotary Club of Breckenridge made a donation to Terry to help with the purchase. Rotary Club members took up a special collection, and on Wednesday, Rotary Club President Cynthia Northrop and Immediate Past President JB Sparks met Terry at Villa Haven to present him with a check while he delivered the blankets and grabbers to the residents.

“The Rotary’s main goal is ‘service above self,’ and we think Terry embodies that,” Sparks said.

Lynn was a generous person who was always helping others, Terry said. On his Facebook page, as he was planning this year’s donation, Terry wrote, “Lynn always went above and beyond for all she loved and cared about. … I wanted to continue her legacy of giving …”

Last Christmas, after Lynn died on Nov. 6, 2024, Terry donated slippers to the Villa Haven residents in memory of Lynn, who was known to friends and family for her giving spirit and her love of Christmas.

In addition to making the donation to the nursing home, the McCoy family continues to decorate their house in the 400 block of South McAmis with a variety of lights and decorations, inviting the community to drive by and enjoy the scene.

On Wednesday, Terry said some of Lynn’s last words were, “Make sure you keep the Christmas decorations going.”
