Breckenridge Fine Arts Center unveils awards for 33rd annual Juried Art Show

The Breckenridge Fine Arts Center recently unveiled the award recipients of the 33rd Annual National Juried Art Show, on exhibit now at the BFAC.
The art show includes more than 90 works from artists around Texas and other parts of the country, as well as by three local artists. Leslie Blackerby, Jerome Cooksey and Ardith McCann, all of Breckenridge, have art work in the exhibit.

This year’s best of show is a large oil painting by Barbara Hack of Flower Mound, titled “Jerome: A Life’s Collage.” Hack also won Best of Show in the BFAC’s 2024 Juried Art Show with her painting “The Artist.”
The other awards this year include:
- Shalon Taylor Wilson Memorial Award: Riding the Wreck – Jerry Smyers, Holliday, Texas
- Lester & Virginia Clark Memorial Award: Rollin’ On the River – Liz Bartlett Culp, Midland, Texas
- Bob Swindle Award: West of the Tipi Rings – Michael Charron, Morrison, Colorado
- Honorable Mention: Morning in the ‘Hood – Liz Bartlett Culp, Midland, Texas
- Honorable Mention: The Art Collector – Steve Miller, Grand Prairie, Texas
- Honorable Mention: Chianti– Teresa Whitaker, Childress, Texas
- Honorable Mention: The Years – Steve Miller, Grand Prairie, Texas
- Honorable Mention: The Bond of a Horse and His Girl – Teresa Whitaker, Childress, Texas
The show features a variety of mediums, including paintings, drawings, sculpture, wood carvings, stained glass, mixed media and assemblages.
The BFAC also has a small exhibit of work by this year’s juror, Liz Bonham of Southlake, who will speak at the show’s closing reception on Oct. 11.
