Although the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce has had to cancel this year’s Boomfest Independence Day show due to limited funding, those interested in celebrating the Fourth of July with a fireworks show have several opportunities to be entertained. The Salute in the Salt Flats will celebrate its ninth annual show, and other area communities are also having events.

Additionally, there are several fireworks stands selling fireworks in Stephens County. Fireworks may be bought and used on privately owned property in Stephens County, outside the city limits of Breckenridge.

By city ordinance, it is illegal for anyone to “sell, give away, or otherwise dispose of, or to shoot or discharge any squib, firecracker, torpedo, Roman candle, skyrocket or other thing containing powder or other explosive matter, or any fireball” within the Breckenridge city limits.

Salute in the Salt Flats

Rail A Ranch, Canyon Road Barn and Grill, and other donors will host the ninth annual Salute in the Salt Flats on Friday, July 4, featuring a free fireworks show starting at dusk.

The patriotic celebration will take place at 5790 FM 3418, near Canyon Road Barn and Grill, located south of Breckenridge. Community members are invited to enjoy the fireworks and support the local volunteer fire departments by helping “fill the boot.”

Although the fireworks show is free to anyone in the community who wants to attend, there are donor levels for anyone who wants to help support the event, ranging from $100 to $500. The top-tier “Stratosphere” level includes reserved parking for the fireworks show and requires a $500 donation. Other available levels include “High Altitude” for $300, “Tree Top View” for $200, and “Ground Zero” for $100.

Donations should be sent to: Rail A Ranch, LLC, 2025 VFD Fireworks Fundraiser, P.O. Box 151, Breckenridge, TX 76424.

For more information about the event or donor opportunities, contact Tracy at (254) 246-5277.

Donations will be divided equally between Hubbard Creek, Caddo, Wayland and Woodson volunteer fire departments.

July 4th Celebration in Woodson

The community of Woodson, in Throckmorton County, will host its annual July 4th Celebration by inviting everyone in the surrounding area to attend. The event will be on FM 209 east of Woodson.

According to an article by Tacy Ellis on the Woodson July 4th Committee Facebook page, featured musicians will include several performers from or with connections to Breckenridge, such as Cabel Perkins and Parks Gill, Elaine and Travis Gober (The Lovebirds), and Yesterdaze Wine with Kyle Fambro, Parks Gill, Justice Cooksey and Jared McLane.

The gates are scheduled to open at 6 p.m., and there will be booths selling items such as candles, clothing, custom leather crafts and items, home decor, cotton candy, snowcones, lemonade, roasted items, coffee and baked goods and more, Ellis reports. See more details on the “Woodson July 4th Committee” Facebook page.

Hell’s Gate Fireworks Show

The 38th annual Hell’s Gate Fireworks Show on Saturday, July 5, hosted by the Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce, will take place on Possum Kingdom Lake.

The PK Lake Chamber will be set up at the YMCA’s Camp Grady Spruce with vendor booths and food trucks. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and close at 8:45 p.m. on July 5. There will be an entrance fee of $10 per person, and children under age 3 will be admitted for free. There will be no swimming and no alcohol allowed.
