The 6th through 8th graders’ exhibit will be in the east gallery of the BFAC through May 30, executive director Rhonda Crawford said. It features a variety of art work, including self portraits, collages, florals, color blocks and more. The students used pencils, acrylics, and other materials for their projects.
For one assignment, photos were printed out of each student; then, the photos were cut in half vertically and the students drew the other half of their face with pencil, art teacher Latisha Clark explained.
Tuesday evening, Clark, BJHS Principal Laura Gibson, along with other teachers, students and families attended an opening reception for the exhibit.
Additionally, in the BFAC’s main gallery, the artwork of Iwona Jankowski is exhibit through June 7. However, the Breckenridge High School art exhibit, which was on display earlier this month, has been taken down.
The BFAC is located at 207 N. Breckenridge Ave. and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Beginning in June, the BFAC will observe summer hours, which will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; during the summer months, the BFAC is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.
