With just a little over two weeks until Christmas, the Breckenridge community continues adding holiday events to the local schedule. Check out some of the activities planned for this month:

The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce will host the annual downtown Christmas parade on Saturday, Dec. 14. This year’s theme will be “Rockin’ Around Walker Street.” The parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Call the Chamber office at 254-559-2301 for information on having a float in the parade.

Earlier that morning, Saturday, Dec. 14, East Elementary will host Pancakes with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. Families can enjoy a pancake breakfast, and the kids can visit with Santa. The event is sponsored by the Caddo, Hubbard Creek and Wayland Volunteer Fire Departments.

On Sunday, Dec. 15, local Breckenridge churches invite the public to “A Journey to Bethlehem,” a walking journey depicting the birth of Jesus Christ. The event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Stephens County Courthouse square. All those wishing to attend are invited to the welcome center at the City Hall, 105 N. Rose Ave., to begin the tour. Accommodations will be provided for those unable to walk. Donations not required, but any donations made will benefit the Salvation Army. For more information, call First Methodist Church Pastor Sam Chambers at 254-559-8208.

Also on Sunday, Dec. 15, the First Methodist Church’s Children’s Choir will present a Christmas Pageant at the 10:45 a.m. service at the church, 419 W. Walker St.

The Breckenridge High School band will present a Christmas concert at the National Theatre of Breckenridge from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16.

On Tuesday, Dec. 17, Bayer Chevrolet-Cadillac of Breckenridge will present a free holiday event for the community from 5 to 7 p.m. at the car dealership, 601 W. Walker St. There will be pictures with Santa, cookie decorating (while supplies last), a hot chocolate and coffee bar, a dessert bar and a bounce house. “This event is completely free—our way of saying thank you to the incredible community we’re proud to serve,” Julie Carstens McNett said. “Bring your family and friends and celebrate the holiday season with us!”

Santa will be on hand to visit with children at the Stephens Memorial Hospital’s business office, 207 S. Geneva Ave., from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19. There will be photo ops and a chance for the kids to get those last minute wishes in. The elves from Solaris Healthcare will also be on-site with a hot cocoa bar to warm everyone up.

The Breckenridge KOA Campground is hosting a variety of events at their local location, 2833 W. Walker St.; some events will be free and others will have a small charge. There will be a “Community Weekend” Dec 13-15, with visits with Santa, an opportunity to decorate cookies, make ornaments, and enjoy a bounce house and games. “Craft Weekend” on Dec 20-22 will feature a movie night, crafts, and ornament making. Check with the KOA office for more details, including times and costs.
