Public hearings, government meetings scheduled for upcoming week
Beginning with tonight’s Breckenridge City Commission meeting and public hearing, several local government boards and commissions will be meeting this week and early next week for public hearings regarding tax rates and/or annual budgets, as well as routine business and other matters.
Here’s a list of some of the upcoming meetings, all of which are open to the public:
Tuesday, Sept. 3
Public Hearing for City of Breckenridge’s 2024-25 Proposed Budget and regular meeting
The City of Breckenridge will hold a Public Hearing on the proposed 2024-25 City budget at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at City Hall, 105 N. Rose Ave., during the regularly scheduled meeting. Thursday, Sept. 5
Special Meeting City of Breckenridge and Stephens County Commissioner Court to discuss Animal Control
The Breckenridge City Commission and Stephens County Commissioners Court will hold a Special Meeting with the Stephens County Humane Society regarding Animal Control Services. Monday, Sept. 9
Public Hearing – Stephens County Tax Rate
The Stephens Stephens County Commissioners Court will hold a Public Hearing regarding the proposed tax rate for the county at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the Stephens County Courthouse, 200 W. Walker St. The proposed tax rate is $0.67280 per $100 valuation, which is a 5.16% increase over last year’s tax rate. The commissioners will also have their regular meeting at the same time. The Stephens Memorial Hospital District and Breckenridge Independent School District boards held their budget and tax rate hearings last month.
