The Breckenridge community is mourning the loss of three local leaders in the past week — Jimmy Dye, CEO of R.E. Dye Manufacturing Corp.; Russell Brock Jr., pastor of Rose Avenue Baptist Church; and, Jackie Grissom, owner of J&J Oilfield Electric.

Dye, who died on Wednesday, Aug. 21, had worked for the 105-year-old R.E. Dye Manufacturing business for 65 years, serving in a variety of positions through the years and buying the company in 1993 after the death of his uncle, R.E. Dye. Visitation was held Saturday, Aug. 24. Click here to read Jimmy Dye’s obituary.

Grissom, who died on Sunday, Aug. 25, started J&J Oilfield Electric after working in the oilfield business for many years. He was also involved in ranching and was named the Ag Citizen of the Year by the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce in 2020. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug, 30, at Gunsight Baptist Church. Click here to read his obituary.

Russell Brock Jr., who died on Friday, Aug. 23, was the pastor of Breckenridge’s Rose Avenue Baptist Church. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he held drive-in church services, allowing community members to attend Sunday morning worship services while safely remaining in their vehicles as he preached from a platform in front of the church.
